The Heartland XV will play matches against New Zealand Marist in Wanganui on Saturday 6 November, a New Zealand Defence Force XV on Wednesday 10 November in Levin, and a Parramatta Invitation XV in Sydney on Saturday 13 November.
Wanganui’s Guy Lennox and Poverty Bay’s Grainger Heikell will return as Head Coach and Assistant Coach respectively, after coaching the Heartland XV last year in a one-off match against New Zealand Marist XV.
Wanganui Manager Chris Back will also return to manage the Heartland team.
New Zealand Rugby Union General Manager Provincial and Community Rugby Brent Anderson said it was fantastic to be able to offer the Heartland players this tour.
“Heartland rugby continues to be hugely important in the smaller Provincial Unions and assembling this team is a great way to reward those stand-out players in the Heartland Championship.
“It’s wonderful that we are able to continue our relationship with New Zealand Marist after the close match with them last year and we now also have the opportunity to foster networks and help develop rugby with the Defence Force,” he said.
The Heartland XV selection will be announced on Sunday 24 October following the Meads and Lochore Cup semifinals.
