Heartland XV team to play New Zealand Defence Force

The match is the second of three matches in their tour. The first match was played on Saturday in Wanganui against New Zealand Marist which New Zealand Marist won 31-22.

The starting line-up has nine changes to the side that played New Zealand Marist with Poverty Bay hooker Ngarimu Simpkins, North Otago flanker Joshua Collier, Horowhenua Kapiti first five-eighth Joshua Hamilton, South Canterbury winger James Owen and King Country lock Aarin Dunster and halfback Ben Draper all moving from the bench to the starting XV.

Mid Canterbury prop Jason Rickard, Wanganui flanker Fraser Hammond and Horowhenua Kapiti midfielder James Ross also make their first appearance on the tour.

Lennox said the team was very keen to bounce back from the loss to New Zealand Marist.

“We came out of the game against New Zealand Marist with a lot to improve on.

“The guys have worked hard in the past few days and we are hoping to really lift our game around the ruck area and get a lot more positive on attack,” he added.

The Heartland XV will travel to Australia following the match against New Zealand Defence Force to play Parramatta Rugby Club XV in Sydney on Saturday 13 November.
