Hansen wants the All Blacks on the same page

The All Blacks coach has already indicated that due to the success of the team over recent years, not too much will change, although Hansen will be mindful of his old mentor’s mantra that the All Blacks needed to improve 10 to 15 percent each season.
However with new faces on board in Ian Foster and Aussie McLean, there will no doubt be subtle changes in the way the All Blacks operate as the philosophies of each coach is put into place.
Hansen told the Sunday Star-Times that the All Blacks grand plan for 2012 was being formulated, but it was important that everyone knew exactly what the goals were moving forward.
"There is a bedding down process with new guys coming in and myself as the head coach," Hansen said.
"We've had various meetings, some with the coaches, some with the management, and some with the leadership group. These are to tidy up and get an alignment that we need to be able to function well when we come into camp on June 3.
All Blacks captain Richie McCaw has met with Hansen and indicated last week that an ‘it isn’t broke so why fix it’ mentality is in place, although Hansen said questions had been asked of how the coaches wanted the team to approach the tenets of the game.
"We've had a reasonably effective style over the last few years and some of the discussion has been around what are we going to do on attack?” he said.
“How are we going to play our phase plays? How are we going to defend?
"A lot of it will be retained because we just don't have the time to change it all.
Hansen said the success of the Chiefs – as Investec Super Rugby’s leading defensive outfit – was indication that many of the systems were still considered first class.
"We're seeing how well the defensive system is working, a la the Chiefs, with Smithy taking it there and doing a great job with those people,” he said.
