Robinson scored two tries as the North went down 24-32 to the South at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on Sunday before an enthusiastic crowd of 7500.

"I think it could be massive," he said. "They could really make something out of it. I know they sort of threw it together this year but they should base it on the players' school first fifteens and get some real passion and pride behind it.

"They could really make something out of it but I think even today we enjoyed playing it and the crowd enjoyed watching it."
Robinson said he was surprised by the intensity of the match.

"The South really ripped into it and I thought 'we're in for a long day here.' Everyone out there was really blowing."

It was also a triumph of sorts for Robinson, who played the full game after coming back from a groin injury.

"It was great for me to get through the full 80. I was only meant to get through 60 but it was feeling good so I carried on. I just have to manage it well, and warm up correctly, and I didn't feel any ill-effects."

Robinson is playing his Super 15 rugby with the Chiefs but he will return to Southland for the ITM Cup.
