Schwalger signs with Counties-Manukau

"I have decided to join the Steelers because I am impressed with what Tana is trying to achieve at Counties Manukau. I think I can add value to that, and am looking forward to being part of what Tana is building," said the thirty-two year old.
Steelers Head coach Tana Umaga acknowledges that the signing of Schwalger is a huge boost to the Union.
Umaga said "To have someone of Mahonri's calibre, class and experience will be a huge asset to our environment and what we are trying to create at Counties Manukau."
"His leadership qualities and skill set will be hugely important in the development of the young talent that we are continually identifying in our region."
Schwalger has played in three rugby world cups and captained Samoa in their historic win against the Wallabies in 2011. He has also played for the Highlanders, Hurricanes, Llanelli Scarlets and Sale Sharks.
