Dagg said that while there had been highlights in his All Blacks career the Super Rugby title in 2012 was something he would like to be involved in.
A win would also complete the decision to join the Crusaders side, something that he believed had helped his career.
He told the International Rugby Board's Total Radio: "I've grown as a player and grown up as a person. I had two years at the Highlanders and enjoyed that thoroughly and decided to make the move up the road."
There were some world-class players with the Crusaders and it was a case of learning from them, he said.
"Being around world-class players helps your game and helps you be a better person," he said.
"We work quite a lot on my high-ball receipts here, taking those high balls and eliminating that kind of play that a lot of the South African teams use. They put up quite a few kicks and put you under pressure back there," he said.
His kicking game had also improved. "I feel my punting and goal-kicking has got a lot better and being alongside a guy like Dan Carter, who's obviously world-class and learning from him, he's helped my game."
Dagg said he did not think it was possible to take anything for granted in relation to holding onto his All Blacks fullback's jersey.
"If I get that jersey I'm just wearing it for that game. You've got classy players, world-class players out there – Ben Smith is a quality player, you've got Andre Taylor up north and he's an absolutely top player who is playing outstandingly so you can't take anything for granted.
"I've just got to try and work on my game and if I get to pull on that black jersey to just wear it with pride. There've been a lot of great players who have worn that jersey before me so I've got to keep trucking along and doing my thing for the team.
"You can't get too comfortable otherwise that jersey can get taken away from you that quick and you've got to keep working hard," he said.
