Gordon Tietjens and his troops finished with a total of 167 points, finishing ahead of Fiji (161), with the Pacific Islanders keeping neck and neck with the New Zealanders throughout the tournament.

New Zealand won in South Africa, their home tournament in Wellington and Scotland, while the Flying Fijians claimed three Cups in Australia, Hong Kong and England.

In less than ten weeks the 2012/2013 season will begin with the opening leg in Australia, before heading to a new home for Sevens in Argentinam, and then Dubai to South Africa, all before Christmas.

Early in 2013 they will then take in New Zealand's capital Wellington before swooping across the Pacific to Las Vegas for the USA Sevens. There's a short break to recharge for the giant Hong Kong Sevens, then quickly onto Tokyo where 20 million potential new fans lie in wait. And finally they will round off the season in Europe, with first Glasgow and then London's Twickenham.
