SBW has memory to exorcise

"That has given me extra motivation and I just need to not worry about outside factors, not worry about anything else but my job and doing it well and I know that if I do that I will contribute to the team performance," he said.
It might be Williams' last game for the side but that wasn't affecting his preparation. The job at hand was the thing, just as it was for other players who were leaving the franchise at the end of the campaign.
"None of the boys are talking about that, we are just focused on our job. We've got a few good coaches here who have drummed that into us all year," he said.
Williams said just playing in a Super Rugby final would be among the high points of his career.
"We've talked about it all year, about the brotherhood we have in here. You really enjoy coming to training and having a laugh with the boys and everyone gets on really well and I think that is why it will be a really special occasion," he said.
"But that won't mean anything if we lose. There's a lot of hard work to be done."
Williams was enjoying the lower key nature of the build-up to the final. It was something he experienced ahead of the Crusaders playing the Reds in last year's final and was being seen again in Hamilton this week.
It was much more low key than the build-up before an NRL final, he said.
"I think that's a good thing, especially for the boys here.
"The Sharks are in tremendous form and have been playing some superb footie and we're going to have to play better than we did last week. That's a big ask for the boys but I'm confident," he said.
Williams said the difficulty in having to pick up the game again after a tough game against the Crusaders was not really a factor.
"Each week in finals footie is its own identity and if you can't get up for a grand final then why are you playing the game. The boys have just got to rest up, train hard and do all the little things and recovery as well," he said.
