While Carter has plenty of experience playing with Nonu in the 10/12 axis for the All Blacks, he spent most of last season with Williams alongside him in Crusaders colours.
He said looking at his midfield gave him some peace of mind.
"It's not bad looking outside and seeing the likes of Sonny Bill and Ma'a, a couple of absolutely huge human beings," Carter said.
"Hopefully we'll get some front football and be able to use them going forward."
For Carter playing the Wallabies will be a welcome challenge, after he missed playing the All Blacks trans-Tasman rivals during the Rugby World Cup.
Aaron Cruden starred at first five-eighth that day, while Carter sat in the stands out of action with a groin injury.
"It was pretty frustrating what happened last year and obviously I'm pretty keen to make the most of this opportunity," Carter said.
"To be over here in Sydney and playing against a strong Wallabies side is a great challenge."
