Reigning Meads Cup champions Wanganui sit on top of the table, and their 39-12 win over fellow top four team Buller was arguably the result of the weekend.

East Coast recorded a handsome 56-24 win over King Country, while Mid Canterbury accounted for Horowhenua-Kapiti with a 48-12 triumph – while Poverty Bay were impressive winning on the road with a 56-29 win over Thames Valley.

Week Eight is the final week of round robin action in the Heartland Championship with some enticing local derbies setting the backdrop for the race to the playoffs.

Places in the Meads Cup and Lochore Cup semifinals are still up for grabs and the semifinalists will be confirmed after the weekend.
