While forwards James Horwill and David Pocock are expected to be cleared to travel after missing recent action, it is unknown which match they will officially return, while captain 'number three' in Will Genia is not expected to play any further rugby this season.
Genia is expected to return from his knee injury for the beginning of the Reds Investec Super Rugby season.
The 34-year-old was to retire at the end of the 2012 Super Rugby season, but answered an SOS from Robbie Deans to lead the side during The Investec Rugby Championship.
Sharpe confirmed to the Sydney Morning Herald that he had been asked to stay on – playing New Zealand, Italy, France, England and Wales on a daunting tour schedule.
If Sharpe was to turn down the ‘request’, then the only other two players available from the leadership group would be James O’Connor and Pat McCabe.
