O'Connor has been sidelined since June with a hamstring injury, and had tentatively scheduled his return for the October 20 clash against the newly crowned Investec Rugby Championship winners, but due to a series of injuries extra precaution is being taken over the well being of the Melbourne Rebels back.
His team-mate Kurtley Beale is likely to run the Wallabies backline against the All Blacks, especially with the absence of the third member of the so-called 'Three Amigos' in Quade Cooper.
O'Connor was at the end of last year touted as a possible long term option for the Wallabies at first five-eighth, but so far has not had a chance to strut his stuff at number ten in test rugby.
Horwill is expected to recover from his hamstring in time to make his return in Europe, as is the man who took over captain's duties in David Pocock.
Pocock's knee injury is healing according to schedule, while experienced hooker Stephen Moore is hopeful of overcoming his hamstring issues to play a part in the Wallabies four-test tour.
The Wallabies play France (November 10), England (November 17), Italy (November 24) and Wales (December 1) to complete the longest test season of any tier one nation.
