Botica, 23, said he wasn't feeling any pressure stepping in for Evans and was looking to enjoy his time in the role while he could.

Botica told The Rugby Paper: "I didn't feel any pressure coming in for Nick. He's a great player but we are different players in the way we approach the game.

"I'm just trying to play my game and do as well as I can for Quins while I get the chance."

Botica said he was proud of what his father, former All Black and Kiwi Frano Botica, who also played league in England for Wigan and Castleford, had achieved and if he could do half of what his father had done he would be happy.

"But I'm my own person and I want to achieve my own things.

"If the coaches are not happy with my game, we can sit down and discuss it but so fat they're pretty happy," he said.

In their most recent premiership game, Botica kicked a conversion and four penalty goals as Harlequins claimed a 31-28 win over London Irish.
