The Crusaders scored the only try of the match, through Andy Ellis 19 minutes in, and they had the better of the play in the opening 40 minutes, but only led 11-9 at the break - with Tyler Bleyendaal scoring two penalties to Lambie's three.
Another Bleyendaal penalty increased the Crusaders' lead early in the second period, but two penalties from Lambie had the home side in the lead before the hour mark.
Bleyendaal responded for the Crusaders, but Lambie put the Sharks in front for good with 11 minutes to go and when Bleyendaal missed with two penalty attempts in the dying stages, the points were in safe keeping.
The victory moved the Sharks further ahead on top of the South African Conference standings, where they are six points clear of the Bulls, while the Crusaders are third in the New Zealand conference with a 3-3 record.
The Sharks are third on the overall standings, behind the Chiefs and Brumbies, while the Crusaders are sixth.
