Ben Lam scored three tries in the seventh match of the day, while captain DJ Forbes, Gillies Kaka and Akira Ioane also crossed the try line while Tomasi Cama converted five of the scores.

Franco Sabato scored a double for Argentina.

In the other Pool A match host’s England defeated Wales 14-10.

The day opened with Samoa beating Canada 19-12, while in other matches France accounted for Scotland 14-10, while Fiji began their campaign with a 38-0 whitewash against relegation threatened Spain.

New Zealand plays Wales and England to round out their first day.
