Glenn Moore named Black Ferns Head Coach for tour

allblacks.com     17 Jun 2015

Earlier this week Black Ferns Head Coach, Greg Smith, voluntarily stood down from his role for the team's upcoming tour to Canada. It was agreed by New Zealand Rugby and Smith that this decision was in the best interests of the team.

This follows Waikato Rugby's judicial decision to suspend him from coaching for 14 weeks.

Moore will join the Black Ferns for their pre-tour camp at Millennium Institute of Sport and Health on the North Shore on Wednesday.

Moore said the tour was an important one for the squad as they look to build towards the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2017.

“The Black Ferns will face England, USA and Canada – three of the top teams in the world, including the current world champions, England.

“This is an opportunity for the newcomers in the squad to gain invaluable international experience and stake their claim for the back jersey. I’m expecting some very exciting rugby.”

Squad update

Waikato’s Sosoli Talawadua has been called into the squad as a replacement due to visa delays for for Sita Kuruyabaki.

Rebekah Tufuga-Cordero has been ruled out due to injury and has been replaced by Lesley Ketu from Waikato.
