The appointments were announced by the Northland Rugby Union today.

Northland Rugby Union Chief Executive Tim Hamiton said in considering the Head Coaching appointment, the Union embarked upon a rigorous process which included the participation of David Nucifora, Laurie Mains, Bryce Woodward and Peter Sloane, all of whom have impeccable credentials as coaches.

In the course of deliberations post the panel meeting, the Board has had discussions with Mark, given his undoubted credentials as a coach at the very top of the professional game and his longstanding association within the Blues Franchise

Despite commitments and opportunities elsewhere , Anscombe has agreed to accept the position as 2006 coach. He is looking forward to moving his family north and will be warmly welcomed by the local rugby fraternity.

Bruce will also cover the roles of Director of Coaching and High Performance Manager.

North Harbour CEO Noel Coom has congratulated Anscombe on his appointment.

“We congratulate Mark on his new position at Northland Rugby, he’s skills and ambition will ensure that Northland continues to strongly contribute to the ongoing success of the Blues franchise.”
