Blyde and Tui nominated for player of the year award

Blyde was the breakout star for the Black Ferns Sevens in their successful 2016/17 season with a series-leading 40 tries and being named the DHL Impact Player of the Series. Tui was equally impressive across the six tournament with her powerful ball running and ravenous work at the breakdown a key part of the Black Ferns Sevens success.

The star Black Ferns pair face stiff opposition for the award from Canada’s Ghislaine Landry. The prolific Canadian captain scored her 100th series try during the 2016/17 campaign and amassed a series-leading 269 points.

The men’s player of the year award is equally competitive with USA speedster Perry Baker up against South Africa’s Rosko Specman and Fiji’s Jerry Tuwai for the award.

The World Rugby Awards take place on 26 November in Monte Carlo.
