New cap Jordan Taufua has had a scan on his calf muscle and has a 'reasonably serious tear', All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said on Sunday.

That was likely to prevent him playing at all during the series but if all went well he should be fit to return for the Crusaders when Investec Super Rugby gets back under way.

No additions would be made to the squad although Matt Todd who had been with the team as injury cover would stay with the squad.

Hansen also confirmed that second five-eighths Sonny Bill Williams was recovering better than anticipated from knee surgery and was likely to be ready and fit for selection consideration for the third Test in Dunedin next week.
