Hawke's Bay moved to the top of the Championship after a 52-10 win over North Harbour in the double-header played in Napier. Tori Iosefo scored three tries and MacGregor Te Maari two in the win.

Bay of Plenty also scored their first points of the season with a 73-0 win over Taranaki.

Canterbury slipped into second place in the Premiership with maximum points after beating Manawatu 48-12 on Sunday afternoon while Wellington went on a points scoring spree in the first game played between the sides when running out 88-3 winners. Ayesha Leti-liga was the only player to score more than one try, touching down for three of Wellington's 14 tries while Amanda Rasch landed nine conversions and scored a try for a 23-point haul.

That broke two Wellington records. She scored three more points than the 20 scored by Huia Paul against Otago in 2011 and Helen Collins against Hawke's Bay in 2012. She also broke Neroli Knight's record of eight conversions scored against Poverty Bay in 1999.
