Hooper, who will be challenged in the loose as a result of the New Zealand selection of flankers Sam Cane and Ardie Savea, said some of the rugby the Australians had played this season had been to that sort of level.

"A lot of ball, able to play in different areas in the field and be a threat in different parts of the field. It's been an enjoyable game to play so usually these games are high tempo," he said.

"The turnover and the transition parts of the game are massive in these Test matches and who can scramble momentum, who can build that as the game goes on [are crucial]," he said.

'They've picked three sevens and we've got some guys in [hooker]Tolu [Latu] who is a real threat over the ball. [The] breakdown is going to be hot."

While the loose forward selection was a new option for this All Blacks side Hooper said the 'on-ball presence' would be as tough as it always was in matches against New Zealand.

"Ardie poses a big ball carrying threat and [is] great over the ball as well so it'll be a fierce breakdown challenge and I'm interested to see how it plays out," he said.

The Australians had been attempting to make adjustments in their game, and in their defensive system. The attack had been varied a little this year and Hooper said they had been transitioning their game.

"That's probably where we missed out a lot last year. A lot of the Kiwi points came off transition, off turnover and what they were able to do with it there.

"So those moments are so important and understanding the gravity of those and what they can do in a game and shutting those down, is critical for us," he said.

Hooper was also confident that with Christian Lealiifano at first five-eighths and James O'Connor at centre they would be calming influences in the backline.

O'Connor had tasted success with some strong performances against the All Blacks earlier in his career.

"He's played in these games before and done really well. So I'm sure he'll be calling upon that and some other things he's learnt in the last couple of years.

"Again, like Christian, he's got a good calming influence and I certainly trust him fully, in his ability and his temperament," he said.
