Both McCaw and Carter have been signed to adidas under individual contract agreements since 2004.

The re-signing of the athletes follows adidas' recent announcement of the extension of its partnership with the New Zealand Rugby Union until 2019.

"adidas is honoured to extend its partnership with Richie McCaw and Dan Carter," says Nick Drake, adidas Global Head of Rugby and Cricket. "Richie and Dan are not only two of the game's finest rugby players, but two of the world's leading sportsman.

"They both truly represent the adidas brand values of honesty, passion, and inspiration and we are looking forward to providing the guys with our unconditional support over the coming years. We are particularly looking forward to working with both players as they prepare for the 2011 rugby world cup in New Zealand."

Daniel Carter says it's a great feeling to have extended his contract with adidas until 2012. "I have always enjoyed my relationship with adidas, a company whose values I admire and respect, particularly its commitment to supporting athletes in their goals to be the best they can be at their chosen sport. Also, it's pretty amazing to have the opportunity to be involved in the design and development of such an incredible product as the Predator boot."

Since the early days of the brand's inception, adidas has involved athletes from all of its sporting categories in the design and development process of relevant apparel and footwear. Athletes are invited to attend adidas'
famous design and development headquarters in Germany, where new innovations and technologies are put through rigorous testing procedures.

McCaw and Carter will continue this tradition by being involved in the design and development process for the products each player is most closely aligned with.

For Carter, this means providing input on the latest versions of adidas' Predator Power Serve XTRX Soft Ground Rugby Boot. McCaw will assist with adidas TECHFITT Powerweb range of tops, shorts and tights and of course the continued cutting edge technology developments within the All Blacks jersey and other playing apparel.
