Daniel Braid

Daniel Braid made his New Zealand Maori debut in 2005 and was a member of the side that beat the British & Irish Lions that year.

A calf injury cut short his 2008 IRB Pacific Nations Cup campaign with New Zealand Maori but in 2007 he was co-captain of the unbeaten Junior All Blacks side that won the IRB Pacific Nations Cup. At provincial level he has played 70 matches for Auckland, including all of the team's matches in 2002, 2004 and 2005 and at Rebel Sport Super 14 level, he has played 59 games for the Blues. The son of former All Black lock Gary Braid, the young Braid has fashioned an impressive playing career of his own. He was first selected for the All Blacks squad for the 2002 end-of-year tour and made his Test debut against Wales. That achievement meant he joined a select group of players who have played for New Zealand Under 21 and the All Blacks in the same season. He is also a former New Zealand Under 19 captain.
