Benson Stanley

Benson Stanley was actually born in New South Wales in Australia, but moved to play his rugby in New Zealand.

Part of a proud rugby clan including Chase and Joe, Stanley earnt a Bachelor of Commerce before moving to concentrate on his rugby.

Benson Stanley tore his hamstring off the bone in the Blues’ first match of the 2009 Rebel Sport Super 14 against the Western Force and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

He has came back to captain Auckland in the NPC and led by example with his hard hitting defence.

Stanley has inherited plenty of the skills of his uncle and former All Black centre Joe Stanley.

He was one of four new caps selected in Graham Henry's first squad of 2010.
