Quentin MacDonald is a member of Te Whakatohea and Ngai Tahu iwi and made his Maori All Blacks debut on the team’s European Tour in 2012, playing in all three matches. He came on as a replacement player in the first two matches and made his first start against Canada in Oxford.
MacDonald is a solid and reliable scrummager whose size and power make him a real problem for his opponents – especially when he has the tryline in his sights. He also performs the rake’s traditional duties well and he has earned a reputation for the devastating accuracy of his lineout throwing.
He made his Super Rugby debut for the Crusaders in 2010 and spent three seasons with that team before shifting north to the Blues for the 2013 season.
