Kade Poki was one of the stars of the IRB Under 19 World Championship-winning New Zealand Under 19 side in 2007, finishing the tournament as New Zealand’s top try scorer with six. Injury cut short his debut Air New Zealand Cup season with Tasman but he recovered to be selected for the Rebel Sport Super 14 for the first time and made his Crusaders debut against the Brumbies in early 2008. Poki’s selection continues his family’s association with the franchise, as elder stepbrother Hayden Pedersen, another Marlborough winger, also appeared for the side.
