Ruth McKay

Manawatu’s Ruth McKay has been a key part of the Black Ferns scrum since 2007, missing just the 2011 season.

With 43 provincial games to her credit at the end of 2013, McKay’s experience as one of the foremost scrummaging exponents in women’s rugby contributes a high level of technical skill to the Black Ferns front row, while her time as a head shepherd in the in the Rangitikei district of New Zealand’s North Island has provided her with the strength and determination to face down her international opponents.
