A member of the Ngati Kuri iwi, Shane Christie earned a place on the Maori All Blacks European Tour in 2012 after setting the ITM Cup alight with some thrilling play for Tasman. He went on to play all three matches on that Tour.
With plenty of pace to go with his imposing size, Christie made his All Blacks Sevens debut in 2011 in England. He played in two tournaments and was part of the squad that secured the 2010-11 HSBC Sevens World Series.
In 2013, he was entrusted with the captaincy of the Tasman Makos – a role he performed in an inspirational manner - and announced he would be joining the Highlanders for the 2014 Investec Super Rugby season.
