A specialist tighthead prop, Nick Barrett joined the Maori All Blacks for the first time in 2013. He came off the bench in both matches on the North American Tour and scored a try in his debut match against Canada.
The former New Zealand Under 19 player is regarded as a strong scrummager and earned his place with a series of powerful ITM Cup performances, in which he showed his imposing form and mobility around the paddock.
A member of the Ngati Kahungunu iwi, Barrett hails from Southland – New Zealand’s southernmost rugby province and played for the Stags from 2010-2013 before moving to Auckland for the 2014 ITM Cup. Barrett was also part of the Chiefs wider training group for Investec Super Rugby in 2014, having previously been part of the Crusaders.
