The Ngati Mutunga-affiliated Chris Smylie made his Maori All Blacks debut in 2006, playing against the USA, and he was part of the Maori All Blacks squad for the 2010 Sealord Centenary Series.
Smylie is a very experienced rugby player, having made his first class debut in 2002 and in 2005 he was recognised as the NPC Division One Player of the Year in 2005. Smylie was also part of the Junior All Blacks squad that won the Pacific Nations Cup in 2009.
He has played Super Rugby for the Blues, Highlanders and Hurricanes. He was a key player during the Hurricanes’ 2014 Investec Super Rugby campaign where he provided guidance and leadership to a number of up-and-coming players.
