MARCEL RENATA was a late addition to the Maori All Blacks squad in 2015, called up to face the New Zealand Barbarians at Eden Park and the Ngati Whanaunga / Te Aupouri prop joined the fray from the bench. He was then selected by then Head Coach Colin Cooper for the 2016 Northern Tour, on which he played in all three matches.
In 2017 Renata was selected for the New Zealand Provincial Barbarians side to face the British and Irishs. He went on to be called into the 2018 Hurricanes squad and made his debut against Investec Super Rugby champions Crusaders.
The young, gifted prop plays provincial rugby for Auckland and is usually found in the thick of things during the Mitre 10 Cup. Renata has also been involved with coaching the game for the University club, where he has been a player since 2012.
