Ben May

BEN MAY IS A versatile prop of Ngati Maniapoto descent and is one of the most-experienced members of the team. Consistent and reliable, he played all but two games for the Hurricanes in 2018 and notched up his 100th Investec Super Rugby game.

May was first selected for the Maori All Blacks in the 2007 Churchill Cup and helped them to victory in the following year’s Pacific Nations Cup.

May played his first full season of provincial rugby with Nelson Bays in 2004 when he helped them win the old Second Division NPC. He then became a foundation member of the Tasman Mako ITM Cup side in 2006, before switching to Waikato for the 2009 season. May made his Investec Super Rugby debut for the Crusaders in 2007 and played for the Chiefs between 2008 and 2011, joining the Hurricanes for 2012 and 2013. A two-year stint playing for the Sanix club in Japan followed and he returned to the Hurricanes in 2015. In 2016, he played 11 games for the ‘Canes as the team claimed its first Super Rugby title.
