Dynamic loose forward Mitch Crosswell earned selection to the Maori All Blacks for the first time in 2014, alongside older brother Nick, and came off the bench in the second match against Japan in Tokyo. He is a versatile player, who is renowned for his strong defence and high tackle count.
While young in loosie terms, the former Feilding High School standout has had an exciting rugby journey already, playing for Manawatu and Tasman before heading to Japan for a year with the Hino Red Dolphins, (based near Tokyo) in the national second division. In 2014 he returned to New Zealand and took up a contract with eventual ITM Cup Premiership winners Taranaki, going on to earn 10 appearances for the team.
In 2015 Crosswell made his Investec Super Rugby debut with the Chiefs, after starring for the development team. While in Tasman Crosswell was also employed as the Union’s Rugby Development Officer and coached secondary school rugby.
