Mike Fraser

Mike Fraser has been a member of the High Performance Referee Squad since 2007 and made his international debut in 2013 when he refereed the match between Georgia and USA.

Five months prior saw Fraser referee the 2013 World Rugby Under 20 Championship where England defeated Wales.

The 37-year-old is among a number of New Zealand Rugby High Performance Referee squad members who began refereeing careers whilst at university.

As a full-time referee with New Zealand Rugby for the past five years, Fraser has accumulated many favourite memories, identifying his first Investec Super Rugby game as one of them.

“Every ‘first’ game at a new level is always special and memorable, but I do remember with great detail my first Super Rugby game and my second Test match refereeing Wales v Tonga at the Millennium stadium as real highlights.”

The 2017 rugby season proved to be a successful one for Fraser, including refereeing his first Mitre10 Cup Final, a hard-fought match between eventual winners Canterbury and Tasman.

The Wellington-based referee is one of the most experienced New Zealand referees, with over 40 Super Rugby games under his belt, having made his debut in 2012. In 2018 Fraser is expected to reach the 50 Super Rugby games mark.
