A strong runner with explosive pace, Ahki has caught the eye of Super Rugby coaches and All Blacks Sevens coach Gordon Tietjens in recent years.  After impressing at North Harbour, he earned a starting spot in the Blues backline in 2014 and a Hurricanes contract in 2016. He was  drafted into the All Blacks Sevens during the 2012/13 season to play the final two tournaments of the World Series. Ahki also played a key role in the team’s triumph in Moscow at Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013. He is another graduate of the Junior World Championships having played for Tonga Under 20 in 2011 and New Zealand Under 20 in 2012. His form saw him gain a contract with North Harbour aged just 18.
