Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske was expected to name Brussow against the Chiefs, but opted against fielding the Springboks fetcher as the Free State based loose forward ranks operated well against the Sharks a fortnight ago, and held their own against a championship winning back row over the weekend.
However the missing link was a turnover threat at the ruck, meaning that the Chiefs were allowed to patiently reset their attacking or defensive lines throughout the contest.
Drotske told the Volksblad website in South Africa last week that it was expected Brussow would return after being out of action for the last five months with a shoulder injury.
“He should definitely be ready against the Highlanders,” Drotske said prior to the Chiefs clash.
“We said before the Sharks game that if we remain injury-free and the loose forwards do well, then we won't use Heinrich against the Chiefs. We'll probably give him another week.”
