Black Ferns beat Wallaroos to win series

allblacks.com - (20/10/2008)

The Black Ferns have won their second Test match against the Wallaroos 22-16, the closest ever margin in a Test between these two sides.
The Black Ferns scored three tries in total with Carla Hohepa touching down in the first half and Hannah Porter kicking a penalty goal.
The Black Ferns led 8-3 at half-time.
The Wallaroos put the pressure on the Kiwis in the second half with a converted try and two penalty goals.
However, the Black Ferns resolve was too strong for the Wallaroos and they scored two tries to Huriana Manual and hooker Fiao’o Fa’amausili in the second stanza. Hannah Porter helped secure the win with her boot converting both second half tries.
The win gave the Black Ferns a two-nil series victory following their 37-3 win four days earlier.
Australia has never beaten New Zealand in a women’s Test with the two countries first competing at the international level in 1994.
NEW ZEALAND 22 (Huriana Manuel, Fiao’o Fa’amausili, Carla Hohepa tries; Hannah Porter 2 cons, pen goal) def AUSTRALIA 16 (Debby Hodgkinson try, Alana Thomas con, 3 pen goals) at Viking Park Canberra.
