DETERMINED AND HARD-WORKING, Victor Vito continues to improve both his game and his leadership abilities, making a valuable contribution to the Hurricanes 2012 Investec Super Rugby campaign so far.
Vito played seven Tests for the All Blacks in 2011, including five at RWC 2011 where he also scored his maiden Test try and a second against Canada. His representative career includes appearances for New Zealand Schools, New Zealand Under 19 and Under 21, and New Zealand Sevens.
Vito first captured the attention with his stand out performances for the Scots College 1st XV in New Zealand's capital Wellington. He also played for the Marist St Pats Club in Wellington.
Vito captained the New Zealand Under 19 side which was runner-up in the IRB World Under 19 Championship in 2006. He then went on to debut for the Wellington Lions and played six games for the side.
To cap off an incredible year, Vito was then nominated for the IRB Under 19 Player of the Year Award.
A notable Sevens player, Vito's performance for the Lions led to him earning a Super 14 contract for the Hurricanes.
Playing primarily at blindside, Vito also impressed with good showings at number eight, and his skills in fifteens included a strong work rate around the field, good abilities in the loose, and a solid showing in the air.
At over 1.92 metres and nearly 110kg, Vito earned a maiden call up into the All Blacks squad in 2010, playing in six Tests.
