Player Profiles - Keith Robinson
|
With his selection for the 2006 All Blacks end-of-year squad, Keith Robinson completed a remarkable comeback from a serious back injury. Robinson made a surprise return to Waikato's Air New Zealand Cup side in September 2006 to play his first top flight rugby since the All Blacks v Pacific Islanders in 2004, an absence of well over two years. An abrasive, no-nonsense lock, Robinson made his Test debut on the All Blacks end-of-year tour in 2002 but, after three Tests, had to wait another 18 months to be recalled by Graham Henry for the Philips International Series Tests in 2004. He was considered a surprise selection for the Chiefs by John Mitchell in 2001, being plucked from the Thames Valley NPC side where he played 22 games. He once played in a Thames Valley primary school representative team under the captaincy of current Wallaby hooker Jeremy Paul. |
