At this stage only Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira is available for what would be the first choice Springbok front row, with Jannie’s brother Bismarck already ruled out via injury.
Du Plessis injured his hamstring in the Springboks 19-26 loss to the Wallabies in Perth, while Cilliers came off the field nursing his elbow.
Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer said he was wary about calling up cover.
“It's difficult to fly someone in who might not play so we need to make a call there,” he said.
Both are considered tighthead props, and Meyer said while there was backup options, it wasn’t specialist – while the Springbok mentor said they were coming up against one of the finest scrums in the game.
"We do have Dean Greyling on the bench,” he said.
“But he is mainly a loosehead, and New Zealand has probably the best scrum in world rugby at the moment.”
However wing Bryan Habana, who looks to be rediscovering a bit of his old try scoring flair, should be fit to play against the All Blacks, with the speedster making progress on his injured ankle.
