Goosen injured his knee during the All Blacks 32-16 win, which secured the World Champions a clean sweep of The Investec Rugby Championship, an unlucky blow considering that the Cheetahs playmaker carried a bruised heel into the match.

The Free State 20-year-old had also just recovered from a shoulder injury.

Goosen was replaced by another young prodigy in Elton Jantjies in the first half.

The injury opens the door for Jantjies to tour, while it is likely Morne Steyn will travel as well, despite apparently falling out of some favour with his old mentor Heyneke Meyer.

Goosen has a Grade 3 medial tear, and is expected to miss the rest of Free State's Currie Cup campaign, but should have recovered in time for the beginning of the 2013 Investec Super Rugby season.

The Springboks have the lightest tour schedule of the major nations, playing Ireland (November 10 in Ireland), followed by Tests against Scotland (November 17 in Edinburgh) and England (November 24 in London).
