Read, who has been in excellent form and tireless again this season, could be handed the captain's armband if flanker and incumbent captain Richie McCaw is given a breather during one of the tests during November and December, some would suggest in readiness for his hiatus for the first half of 2013.

The Crusaders eightman said it would be nice to show the North, traditionally known as more pragmatic practictioners of the game, how the All Blacks like to run on the field, with the team proudly executing a flamboyant game that is visual and racks up the points.

"It's nice that we can hopefully show the people up north how to play the game of rugby and we want to play a really nice style so hopefully we can do that" he said.

As well as performing per say, Read repeated a line used often by coach Steve Hansen this season, saying that how they get ready for a test match would determine their upcoming results.

"Preparation is pretty key to putting a performance in each Saturday," he said.

Read said if he did become All Blacks captain, he hoped his style would not alter even with the added responsibility.

"I hope not," he said.

"It's all about doing the business on the field and performing the best you can. Being a leader or not, I try to do that every game."
