Brent Anderson, General Manager Community Rugby and Provincial Unions said the show was bigger and better than ever with the return of favourite All Blacks and other rugby stars, as well as the introduction of new characters and segments.
"Small Blacks TV continues to go from strength to strength and is a firm favourite for kids of all ages - and Mum and Dad! With the popularity of Rippa Rugby at an all-time high, it’s great to see the rugby stars of tomorrow having fun on television with the rugby stars of today."
Host Nua Finau said Small Blacks TV showed another side of the All Blacks, and they love being on the show and having a chance to be a kid again themselves.
"This season’s series breaks new ground with some players having fun like you’d never believe. Our new time slot means that kids can watch the show before they leave the house and hit the rugby field. It's ideal for getting them excited about New Zealand's favourite game."
This year also sees the return of Richard 'Kaks' Kahui who is even more determined to win the obstacle race against his young competitors in Kaks vs Kids. All Blacks captain Richie McCaw joins the show in a new role dishing out rugby and life advice and Conrad Smith is a reporter on the streets for Small Blacks News, anchored by Shortland Street favourite, Pua Magasiva.
Each week Nua meets Small Blacks from around New Zealand, introduces a new studio guest and an All Black drops by to teach a new skill.
Meanwhile, Rugger and his Ruggerbee mates, William, Webb and Alice take on the filthy, stinky, smelly, ugly Mountain Men of Mooloo in Rugger Quiz.
Small Blacks TV promotes healthy eating and an active lifestyle in a way that all children will find entertaining and informative.
The half hour show was nominated for Best Kids TV Show in TV Guide's ‘Best in the Box’ annual awards.
