The Waikato squad only arrived back yesterday from their Ranfurly Shield challenge on the East Coast so the quick turnaround provides a chance for a few wider squad members to make an impression.

Several players will back up from Tuesday’s shield game but the Waikato coaches have the luxury of naming an extended bench for the pre-season fixture as they manage player workloads with the opening game of the 2013 ITM Cup just over two weeks away.

Kick off today is 5.00pm and entry into Beetham Park is free. Beetham Park is on the corner of Willoughby Street and Richmond Street.

Waikato’s final pre-season hit out is against Taranaki next Thursday (8 August) at Island Reserve in Otorohanga (kick off 2.30pm).

Waikato ITM Cup season memberships are available for the five home games at Waikato Stadium. Head to www.ticketdirect.co.nz for details.
