ITM Cup Week Five Review

allblacks.com and James Mortimer     16 Sep 2013

The Steelers won the Shield for the first time with victory over the Magpies, and will be looking at making it two straight defences when hosting Waikato, with the Mooloo men keen for revenge after they originally lost the Log o'Wood to Otago.

Meanwhile Wellington's impressive start to the season continued with a 33-16 win over Bay of Plenty, the first time this campaign that the men from the capital haven't registered a four-try bonus point.

Canterbury were able to keep their unbeaten record intact with a 32-22 win over Otago, even if the current champions admitted after the match they were far from convincing.

At Waikato Stadium the Mooloo warmed up for their upcoming Shield challenge with an impressive 42-24 win over Auckland, the first loss for the 16-time winners this season.
