Masaga to head to Japan at end of Chiefs season
Chiefs’ winger Lelia Masaga will head off shore at the conclusion of the 2013 Investec Super Rugby competition to continue his rugby career in Japan. The twenty-six year old has signed with the Japanese club Honda for two seasons.
Chiefs’ coach Dave Rennie said “Lelia is a highly valued part of the Chiefs family, but at his stage of his career this is a fantastic chance for Lelia and his family and we wish them well.”
Lelia Masaga is in his eighth season with the Chiefs. He has played one test for the All Blacks and is a former Junior All Black. He will not be available for ITM Cup this year for his provincial side Bay of Plenty.
The Chiefs head to Mount Maunganui this Easter weekend to play the Blues on Saturday 30 March at 7.35pm at ASB Baypark Stadium.
