Cheetahs target Hurricanes scrum and maul
Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has left no doubt about where he intends to attack the Hurricanes on Friday - in the scrums and with the rolling maul.
Drotske told Supersport.co.za, "I do think it will be an expansive game.
"There is no rain and the way the Hurricanes play is pretty much like we do. They try to attack from their own half when it is on and they keep the ball in hand.
"Counter-attacks are one of their strengths. Hopefully, it won't be a high-scoring game from from both teams. Our defence is a lot better," he said.
Drotske said the Bulls game had exposed the Hurricanes scrum while their halting of the maul had been suspect which was why he was keen to target those areas.
"But other than that, you have to keep the ball through phases and they have conceded a few tries. If you manage to keep the ball through five or six or seven phases, you tend to find reward. It is very important that we keep the ball through these phases,'" he said.
