With the New Zealand Conference as competitive as always, with all five teams having aspects of play that would suit the All Blacks, Hansen stressed to ONE Sport that there was a significant jump between Super Rugby and international combat.
Hansen stressed that there would be a blend of a lot of different styles.
"How we want to play will be totally different to the five franchises," Hansen said.
"It might be a little bit of each, but it will be different. We've asked them to come here and get an understanding of how we want to play our game."
Despite the French incoming as the All Blacks Steinlager Series opponent, there was little focus on the enemy, especially considering that players still had Investec Super Rugby matches to play.
"There's no point this group of guys looking at the French yet," Hansen said.
"They've got opposition to play that they need to be worrying about. That's something you can do in preparation for test week. But you can't get everybody on the same page in one week."
