Like many people, the All Blacks and New Zealand Rugby were deeply moved by the Typhoon Haiyan disaster and wanted to contribute to the fundraising efforts. Following the exceptional efforts of the All Blacks in 2013 with a historic fourteen game unbeaten season, the team decided to donate a framed jersey personally signed by each member of the 2013 All Blacks Squad.
After 60 bids, the jersey was ultimately purchased by an All Blacks fan based in Sydney who selected Oxfam as the charity of choice for the donation.
Luke Bell from Oxfam Australia said “it’s an extremely generous contribution and we are very grateful for this support.”
Support is still needed with at least 18 million people living in the worst affected regions following the Typhon and estimates suggesting over 11 million people have been affected across 41 provinces. To donate to Oxfam visit http://www.oxfam.org.nz/donate-online
