Ngā Whārangi Kaitākaro
CRISTO TOFA is a versatile front-rower who may be youngish in first-class rugby experience but is wise in years.
She is a classic late bloomer, having only take up rugby at the age of 26.
Her 2017-18 Farah Palmer Cup form for Harbour Hibiscus, as a loosehead prop out of the East Coast Bays club, won her a berth in the 2018 Black Ferns, and she made her debut off the pine against the Australian Wallaroos.
Shifting to the Ponsonby club and the Auckland Storm for the 2019 season, Tofa appeared in all eight matches across all three front-row positions. In 2020, she continued her consistent output, scoring two tries in her seven games as the Storm reached the Farah Palmer Cup semifinals. Later in 2020 she was named in the Probables squad versus the Possibles.
Tofa is solid on the tackle and in the scrums and accurate throwing into the lineout. Away from rugby, she is a youth worker.
